The Short Version

I’m Capt. Kyle Morella. I’ve guided out of McClellanville for ten years, most of it poling a skiff through the marshes of Cape Romain and Bulls Bay looking for redfish that would rather not be found.

This used to be Salty Sloth Charters. It’s The Ditch now: same water, same guide, more going on. Charters, a casting school for kids and adults and a YouTube channel about the unpolished side of saltwater fly fishing.

Work with me

Brands, lodges, and outfitters: I shoot content, model, and guide, sometimes all in the same day. If you need someone who can catch the fish and get the shot, let’s talk.

What’s the ditch?

Waterman have called the Intracoastal “the ditch” for as long as there’s been an Intracoastal. Ours is the stretch out of McClellanville.

The water

A narrow stretch of the Intracoastal that opens into Cape Romain and Bulls Bay. Oyster bars, spartina, and flats that drain to mud twice a day. Redfish live here year-round.

The way we do it

Every day out here is different, and not every day is pretty. That’s the appeal. You’ll learn the water, the tides, and the little things most guides skip right past. The fish come with it.
